CoherynUI — Deterministic UI Engine & Styling Platform

A Rust-native styling compiler with optional UI components, motion, and graphics packages. Compile CSS into explicit cascade layers, then add the browser capabilities your project needs.

An exploded stack of interface layers and reusable components.

Architecture & Key Capabilities

CSS Layers

Deterministic W3C Cascade Layers

Emits standard CSS across 5 canonical layers (cyn.reset, cyn.tokens, cyn.base, cyn.recipes, cyn.utilities). Explicit layer ordering makes precedence easier to inspect and maintain.

Components

Headless Accessible Primitives

Component state machines designed around accessibility patterns, including roving tabindex, focus management, and keyboard navigation for dialogs, popovers, and segmented controls.

Motion

Analytical Harmonic Spring Physics

Real-time physics engine solving the continuous harmonic spring differential equation using an analytical solution, coupled with sub-frame FLIP layout interpolation.

Graphics

WebGPU Refractive Liquid Glass

Optional graphics packages use WebGPU shaders with WebGL2 and CSS fallbacks. Check the browser compatibility notes before choosing graphics effects for your audience.

Plugins

Sandboxed Wasm Plugins

The plugin host uses the Wasm Component Model with scoped capabilities and fuel metering. Review the capability model before loading a plugin.

Agent Workflows

AI Coding Assistant Contracts

Strict semantic tokens, deterministic component contracts, and complete LLM context files for automated UI development.

Compilation Throughput

Verified Benchmark

Processes hundreds of source templates with sub-millisecond AST extraction.

0.4ms p99 AST Scan Latency

Architecture & Core Engine Design

CoherynUI is built as an independent, modular UI stack designed around performance, determinism, and accessibility.

use coherynui_compiler::Compiler;

let compiler = Compiler::from_config("coherynui.config.toml")?;
let css = compiler.compile_sources(&["web/templates"])?;

Deterministic Cascade Order

Styles are placed within explicit cascade layers so that utility classes never unexpectedly overwrite component recipes, and application tokens always take precedence over framework resets.

Installation & Toolchain Usage

Install the compiler CLI binary via official package repositories:

# Install via Cargo
cargo install coherynui-cli

# Install via npm
npm install -g @coheryn/coherynui-cli
